SPECIAL INSPECTIONS

RE&LS is an experienced and qualified construction inspection firm that is now capable of performing Special Inspections as required by Chapter 17 of the Building Code of New York State (BCNYS). Our licensed professional engineers and certified inspectors work on-site throughout the construction process adhering to strict, complex reporting requirements for your project. Our technical team is experienced in providing construction quality assurance oversight, special inspection oversight, code compliance review, and environmental regulatory assistance. The RE&LS special inspection team is dedicated to providing our clients with accurate, concise, and timely execution of the special inspection program.

ELECTRICAL INSPECTION

RE&LS can provide field inspections of all electrical related components installed for compliance with electrical codes including but not limited to all conduit and duct bank installations, wiring, circuits and power connections. Project experience includes technical inspections for the installation of new electrical systems or modification of old electrical wiring systems, motors, equipment and related electrically operated apparatus. Our team is very experienced in Electrical Code inspections and compliance reports including testing, trouble shooting and operation of all systems to assure proper functionality. The team is also well versed in arc flash studies, having performed studies for numerous school districts statewide.

BOLTING INSPECTION

RE&LS’ inspectors are certified ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspectors.  Inspections can be performed on all structural joints and bolted connections.  Observations are done per the American Institute of Steel Construction Standards. Inspection services provided for verification of bolted connections include:

  • Bolt manufacturer’s certifications
  • Properly marked fasteners and their storage
  • Bolt grade, types, and bolt lengths
  • Bolting procedures, hole preparation, and faying surfaces
  • Bolts placements, snug tight conditions, and pre-tensioning procedures
  • Acceptance or rejection of bolted connection

WELDING INSPECTION

RE&LS can provide Certified Welding Inspection (CWI) services by inspectors holding AWS D1.1 certifications compliant with all code requirements. Our CWI services encompass:

  • Review of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) / Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
  • Determination of Welder qualifications
  • Review of project design documents for welding requirements
  • Inspection of Materials and Equipment
  • Inspection of Work and Records
  • Visual Inspections and NDT including PT, MT, RT & UT

COATINGS INSPECTION  

Our NACE-certified Coating Inspectors have experience verifying specifications compliance, conducting failure analyses, consulting on materials selection and writing specifications for industrial coating applications. Our Coating Inspectors are qualified to perform coating inspections tests under the ASTM Protective Coating Standards Guide and have worked on multi-million dollar projects including bridge and marine coating inspection, wastewater treatment and water tank coating inspection and architectural industrial painting inspection.
